IICS parents celebrated a very different Thanksgiving last week. Thirteen IICS moms united last Thursday, November 24th and went to brighten the day of the 70 needy elderly people, residents of the Bomonti Home for the Elderly, which is run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, who welcomed the IICS moms with open arms and hearts.
IICS parents had collected 680 TL to fill the huge fridge with fresh vegetables bought at the nearby market. Then the group split into three: cooking, gardening, and entertaining the residents with origami, ‘bowling’, and bingo where everybody could win small prizes.
Dolly Tiranarata gave small massages to residents and IICS mom Sylvie Giaquinto donated homemade cakes and cookies for all 120 people – an amazing job!
It was a wonderful day and a beautiful experience.
The Little Sisters of the Poor depend entirely on donations to run the Bomonti Home for the Elderly, which supports primary expat geriatrics who have no other means of support. Please consider the Little Sisters of the Poor if you have something to give.
