On Friday, November 4th, IICS hosted the ISL Cross Country tournament for high school and middle school. Our high school cross country runners once again dominated their competition, this time defending their home turf for the first time. Though the mud and rain deterred some ISL teams from participating, IICS runners were in fine form, many running their personal best. Our runners swept both the male and female categories. A little mud and rain wasn’t enough to slow them down; all runners gave their best effort and appreciated the great effort of the opponents.
From our high school boys’ team, Yannis ran the race of his life but was foiled by a wrong turn in the last five hundred meters, leaving gold to his teammate Jules and finishing second. Efe rounded out the top of the group by finishing third. On our high school girls’ team, Makoto continued her dominance of the fall ISL race from a year ago with a repeat of her first place finish. Dominating the uphills, Selin took second with Neris coming in third.
From our middle school team, Alice, Dafna, Selin K, and Aylin all both ran their personal best and came out on top for the girls while Sehwa, Stanley, Qi, and Rijk came out as champs for the boys.
We’re proud of how our runners performed, but this was just a taste of the competition that awaits us in Tbilisi next weekend at CEESA. If you see a runner in the hallway, wish them luck!
