Grade 12 student Melda A. was selected to the Turkish National Senior Dressage Team for the FEI Balkan Dressage Championship 2016 and represented Turkey in July this summer in Greece. Melda won the Bronze Medal for Turkey with her Senior team!

With her horse Clockwork, Melda competed in the Senior category, which was the most advanced category in the competition. She was the youngest rider at this level, competing against professionally ranked and experienced adult riders ans well as riding coaches. She was also the youngest rider ever competing for Turkish team in this category. Melda and Clockwork did well in the competition and she was excited and proud to be able to represent her country in this event.

Melda and her coach decided last summer to take this challenge and to prepare for it, she has been training at this level for the past year, riding 4 times a week.

Melda is now preparing for Turkish National Dressage Championship in September.

We are lucky to have a number of accomplished equestrians at IICS, including Grade 7 student Lyn O., who recently competed and won bronze in the 2016 Balkan Jumping Championships. We look forward to hearing the details from her soon!
