“I liked how he didn’t tell us what to do, we got to experiment and see what works well.” Leyla, Grade 2
We had an inspiring and fun week with Mark Shillitoe’s visit! He engaged students and teachers with a series of open ended experiences incorporating graffiti tables to guide the making.
Students and teachers explored, designed, tinkered and made in a variety of sessions. Some highlights include creating drawing machines, making squishy circuits, building light art, creating MakeyMakey sound installations and interactive dance pads, and connecting MakeyMakey and Scratch for fun interactions. Older students and teachers also participated in Webmaker inquiries, where websites were remixed by altering the code.
Students documented and reflected on their learning using digital tools and had fun!
“I liked that you could invent lots of great things and put things together.” Gece, Grade 3
“Never seen such a high level of engagement over such an extended period.” Breda Hayes, Grade 2 Teacher
