For the second year in a row, our IICS community has participated in the ‘Magic-in-a-Shoebox’ initiative along with other Istanbul schools and Istanbul’s international community.
Students, parents, and staff at both Hisar and Marmara campuses contributed by bringing in festively-wrapped boxes containing these small items: something to love, something to wear, something to eat (non-perishable), something to do, and something useful. We are happy to announce that IICS collected more than 150 boxes that will be distributed to children in Istanbul during this holiday season.
The children who will receive the gift boxes are from various backgrounds: refugee children from different countries, disabled and autistic Turkish children, and children from under-privileged families.
On behalf of the PTA and the Magic-in-a-Shoebox team, we want to thank all of our parents and kids for sharing their good fortune with others, taking the time to prepare these boxes that will put a smile on so many faces and making this holiday season at least a bit more festive for others.
We also want to thank the school and Mitur for helping out in facilitating the collection and delivery. What a great team effort for a great cause!
